KUALA LUMPUR 23 MARCH 2014. Hindu devotees celebrate Holi Festival at Shree Lakshmi Narayan Mandir temple, Jalan Ipoh. Holi is a spring festival also known as festival of colours. An Orangutan or its scientific name Pongo pygmaeus is the only mammal found on the islands of Borneo and Sumatra. Orangutan give a birth about once in 7 years, pregnancy is about 8 to 9 months. This Mammalian DNA is 97 percent similar to human DNA . In Peninsular Malaysia , the only conservation centre is located in Orang Utan Island at Bukit Merah , Perak. The Bukit Merah Orang Utan Island Foundation are given to responsibility to protect the survival of Orangutans. Every born of Orangutan will be monitored and given a proper treatment. Before being released into the wild, Infant Orangutan aged 1 to 3 years will be placed in the nursery. Hang Li Po , aged 1 year 6 months is the youngest son of the Orang Utan island . They are monitored and placed into the nursery with his other infant Orangutans. In the nursery , they are trained to be independent as finding food and nest before they are released to the real habitat .

A Somali Refugees Hope

Somalia or known as the ‘Horn of Africa’ is a country where the majority of Muslims. From 1988 until now, civil war conflict has claimed more than 300,000 lives. As a result many civilians became refugees. According to UNHCR, there are currently 3.7 million Somalis need humanitarian assistance as a result of conflict and food crisis. Most refugees escape to neighboring countries such as Kenya and Ethiopia.

In Malaysia, a total of 1,090 Somali refugees registered with UNHCR. Most of them are borne by relatives abroad to finance the cost of living. Non-Governmental Organisations (NGOs) helps refugees to build a school for these children acquire formal education. The teaching staff consists of refugees themselves and Somali students who studying in Malaysia.

According one of the refugees, Aden Ali Semale, in Malaysia, we heard explosions of firecrackers at festivals, but if in Somalia awakened by explosions of bombs and bullets just surrender to fate. He expressed his gratitude for this country is in a state of peace and hope it continues forever.  -The New Straits Times/Adi Safri
